CHAIR-ity Chair construction
The “CHAIRity” project was created to raise money for a local domestic violence charity through an auction of the final chairs. The chair was designed and constructed with partner Ellie Combs and evokes the process of healing for a domestic violence victim. The supporting forms represent an embrace. The circular form created where the parts of the chair intersect symbolizes the path to wellness and stability.
The chair was constructed with powdercoated steel, aluminum and birch plywood. The color highlight comes from the petals of bougainvillea, a locally abundant plant, that we cast in clear resin and suspended within the chair form.
